What exactly is Peer pressure?
The need, desire, longing for social acceptance and belonging; jiving along the tides of time, latest trends and happenings just like every other identified human in your age group is basically referred to as Peer pressure.
This desideratum is one of the many things discovered to sponsor the actions and inactions of individuals (especially those in the teenage group).
Peer pressure isn't bad or good
Now, there is a need to understand that Peer pressure isn't a bad thing.
Just because the word 'pressure' is attached doesn't necessarily insinuate evil.
Infact in certain instances, the pressure felt from peers properly channelled towards inspiration have proven to be the energy that drives one towards betterment or at least the desire for getting better.
Elaboratively, the word 'peer pressure' is a compound word gotten from two distinct words in English language.
'Peer' and 'Pressure'. That is to say that; the pressure felt from any camaraderie or circle is invariably proportional to the constituents or members of that circle.
That's seems like a lot of english...
Okay, wait. There's a verse of the scripture that better explains that.
Check this out:
He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)
So it means, the pressure you feel is determined by the kind of people you emulate or walk with, just like the scripture says.
It might even be as worse as destruction.
If your company is a good one, you're going to be influenced positively.
However, if your company is anything but good then you should hearken to what Apostle Paul has to say:
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
1Cor 15:33 (NKJV)
However, the understanding that things don't work out as planned or seem to work out in our evaluation can legitimize doing what others are doing inorder to get their results.
(Do not be deceived though, because ' ... we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose - Romans 8:28,NKJV)
Is that the ideal?
What's God opinion of this?
What do I do when everything is failing and I need evident results?
Stay put for the concluding part of this article.
